PROGRAM,
US MARSHAL ALFREDO PEREZ, SOUTHERN DISTRICT.
Spoke to us about his job. He told us the things he can do and the
things that he can not do. He explained the US Marshal’s was the first
law enforcement organization in the country. There was one office in
each of the 13 colonies. Now there are 92 Districts and over 300
Marshals Nation wide. Their main job is to protect the families in the
Court system, either before or after the Court date. The Marshals’
office also handles the witness protection program. One of the latest
jobs was the rescue effort during IKE.
The Marshals’ offices tracks down the bad men
all over the Country. A Marshal does not work more cases than he can
handle at one time. For Officer Perez, his load is no more than 2 at a
time. A lot of the time one officer does not know which case the other
is working on. The balance of the program was devoted to questions and
answers. The Program was a Fine program. We all enjoyed Officer Perez.

OLD BUSINESS:
1. FUNDRAISER= EVALYN PHILLIPS =
reported we have received the articles as a fundraiser for next year’s
Convention. We sold $131.00 at the convention ,and $260.00 at the
Region meeting so the total for the 2011 Convention is $391 so far from
Pins, Patches, and Key Chains. Good Job Evalyn.
2. CONVENTION 2011= DAVID
MILLER =
First of all the number of pre-registers for 2011convention was 54 very
good. The first meeting scheduled on the convention is September 11,
2010 after the regular meeting at the Montgomery County Sheriff CPA.
David reported we were going to need $65K
to
$70K to host the convention. We all need to start working together now
to make this happen. David touched on things like meals, Bags for each
person, stuffers for each bag. Lunches and Banquet meal. We need to
make the decision on a menu and cost, so we can work to a good end. The
idea was put out if we wanted to have a BBQ at the banquet and dress in
shorts and western clothes? Be sure and come to each planning meeting
to get your ideas included. We need to get speakers for each class and
for the banquet. We need to decide the food for the banquet by the end
of the meeting in September
